Why Browser-Based?
PDFRift runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. This means:

pdf-lib
A powerful JavaScript library for creating and modifying PDF documents in the browser. Used for merging, splitting, rotating, and editing PDFs.
pdf.js
Mozilla’s PDF rendering engine. Enables fast, accurate page preview and image conversion without server-side processing.
pdfjs-dist
The distribution of pdf.js optimized for browser use, ensuring reliable PDF parsing and rendering across all browsers.
All processing happens client-side. PDFRift is built with Next.js and deployed on Vercel, with authentication and optional cloud features provided by Supabase.
Privacy & Security
Your Files, Your Control
We never see, store, or transmit your PDF files. Encryption happens in your browser, and all processing occurs locally. We cannot access your documents even if we wanted to.
No Logging, No Tracking
We don’t log file contents, file names, or any personal details about your documents. For paid users, we track usage counts only to enforce fair-use limits.

PDFRift complies with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations. With no file uploads to servers, you avoid vendor lock-in and data residency risks entirely.
